New Rochelle, N.Y., November 26, 2019 – The Monroe College Express women's basketball team earned their third straight victory on Tuesday evening, defeating the Dutchess Community College Falcons, 55-51.
The Express move to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Freshman
Quanisha Griffin led the Express, scoring a new season-high of 28 points to go with a game-high seven steals and two rebounds. Barbara Valentin had 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and five steals. Rookie
Arianna Wilder hauled in a 10 points and four rebounds, while
Desteny Arzu grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and three steals.
The Falcons were led by Kamryn Hammond's team-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Starr-Aisa Hayes notched 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Up next, the Express women's basketball program heads out to Long Island on Tuesday, Dec. 3, taking on Suffolk County Community College.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
