Monroe Express Men’s Basketball Defends Home Court against Dutchess, 74-67

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., November 26, 2019 – The Monroe College Express men's basketball team defended home court on Tuesday night, defeating the Dutchess Community College Falcons, 74-67, at the Monroe Athletic Complex. The Express improve to 4-4 and 2-3 in conference play.

Freshman Kevon Wiggins led the team with his first double-double of the season, collecting  new season-highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Terrence Trice picked up 12 points, three assists and four steals while Kevin Austion netted 13 points of his own.

Sophomore Loquan Deloatch pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds, along with six assists, and four steals and five points. Sophomore Kevin Benjamin matched his season-high of eight points and tallied three rebounds and five steals.

Dutchess was led by three scorers in double-figures. Hakeem Godbold led the team with a double-double of 16 points and 12 points. Isaiah Kostyal had 14 points and seven rebounds while Stephon McGill recorded 11 pints and nine rebounds.
 
The Express return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3 on the road against Suffolk County Community College.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
