NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., February 23, 2018 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to Baltimore City Community College, 86-35 on Friday at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
Down 21-10 after the first quarter, the Express found their range in the second, shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three as
Tatyana Forde found her range and knocked down three threes in the quarter to lead all scorers with 12 at the break. Still though, the Express trailed, 44-25, at halftime.
And after the Panthers outscored the Express, 18-7 in the third quarter, Baltimore City would pull away in the fourth quarter, and take home a 86-35 victory.
Forde led all scorers with 17 points, while
Frances Morales added seven points, six assists and five rebounds.
With the loss, the Express drop to 7-16 on the season.
The Express wrap up their inaugural, 2017-18 season on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they take on the Monroe College Mustangs in an intra-college matchup at 3 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
