NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., December 14, 2018 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to Harford Community College on Friday at the Monroe Athletic Complex, 99-29. With the loss, the Express drop to 5-9 on the season, while the Fighting Owls remain undefeated at 11-0.
The Fighting Owls jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Express, 26-8 in the first quarter and 49-17 in the first half, before pulling away in the second half for the 99-29 victory.
Julie Trowers led the Express with 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Destinee White added nine points and five boards.
The Express are back in action when they open the 2019 portion of their schedule on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y. at 1 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
