MIDDLETOWN, N.Y., November 8, 2018 – Monroe Express men's basketball led at the half but fell, 81-74, to Orange County Community College in their first non-conference game of the season on Thursday, dropping to 1-1 (1-0 Region XV).
 
The Express took a 39-32 lead into halftime against the Colts, but SUNY Orange responded with a big second half. The Colts outscored the Express, 49-35, in the second half to defeat Monroe, 81-74.
 
Gian Batista led the Express with 22 points on 9-for-19 shooting, adding nine rebounds and six assists. Ghetty Dimitri Allui joined Batista in double figures for the second-straight game, tallying 14 points.
 
The Express continue non-conference play on Saturday, Nov. 10 when they head to Stone Ridge, N.Y. to take on Ulster County Community College at 3 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
