Monroe Express Women’s Basketball Drops Weekend Finale to Nassau

BROCKTON, Mass., November 4, 2018 – The Monroe College Express women's basketball team dropped its final matchup at the Massasoit Community College Tournament on Sunday, a 76-56 decision to Nassau Community College. Monroe leaves the weekend at 0-2, while the Lions move to 1-1.
 
Julie Trowers had an impressive game for Monroe, totaling 15 points with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal for a strong all-around effort. Ariana Jones followed with 12 points, adding four assists.
 
Maryam Camara had six points, 12 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and a steal to fill up the stat sheet for the second straight game. Destinee White picked up six points and a team-high six assists. Tatyana Forde contributed eight points and four assists.
 
The Express are scheduled to play next on Tuesday, Nov. 6, with a matchup at nearby rival Bronx Community College. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
