BROCKTON, Mass., November 3, 2018 – The Monroe College Express women's basketball team opened its season up at the Massasoit Community College Tournament on Saturday, falling to North Country Community College, 82-18. North Country opens the season at 1-0, while Monroe falls to 0-1.
Julie Trowers led the Express in her debut on Saturday, scoring six points with three rebounds and a blocked shot.
Maryam Camara filled up the with three points, four rebounds, six assists, six blocks and a steal.
Ariana Jones added two points and two assists.
Destinee White added three points and five assists off the bench.
The Express will close out the weekend at the Massasoit Tournament on Sunday when they take on Nassau Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
