Monroe Express Women’s Basketball Records Impressive, 97-38, Win over Dutchess

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., November 27, 2018 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team scored a program-record 97 points on Tuesday, as they defeated the Dutchess Community College Falcons in dominating fashion, 97-38.
 
The Express quickly jumped out to an early lead, leading by 16 at the end of the first quarter, and 32 at the end of the first half.
 
Monroe continued its charge in the second half, outscoring the Falcons, 36-12, to take an 83-27 lead into the fourth quarter, eventually picking up the 97-38 victory.
 
With the win, the Express move to 3-7 (2-2 Region XV) on the season, while the Falcons drop to 0-6 (0-4 Region XV). The Express broke their program-high of 90 points set on Nov. 28, 2017 when they fell to Hudson Valley Community College, 94-90 in overtime.
 
Tatyana Forde led the Express with 17 points, while Julie Trowers recorded her third career and second-consecutive double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Jacqueline Jimenez and Destinee White each scored 12 points off the bench, while White tied Maryam Camara with a team-high five assists.
 
The Express continue their road-stretch on Thursday, Nov. 29 when they travel to New York, N.Y. to take on the Borough of Manhattan Community College at 5:45 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
