POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., November 27, 2018 – Monroe Express men's basketball fell short on Tuesday against the Dutchess Community College Falcons by the final score of 77-72, dropping to 3-4 (1-3 Region XV) on the season.
The Express battled back-and-forth with the Falcons, trailing 31-26 at the half. But the Express' comeback effort fell short, as the Falcons' equaled the Express' 46-point output in the second half to keep their five-point lead and earn an 77-72 victory.
Gian Batista led the Express with 16 points, while
Ghetty Dimitri Allui and
Moussa Sanogo each tallied 12 apiece.
Arturo Sealy joined the trio in double-figures with 11, adding five assists, while Allui led Monroe on the glass with five boards.
The Express will look to bounce back and snap a two-game losing streak when they head to New York, N.Y. on Thursday, Nov. 29 to take on the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers at 7:45 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
