BROOKLYN, N.Y., January 6, 2018 – Down by three at the half, the Monroe Express men's basketball team outscored Kingsborough Community College, 37-26, in the second half to top the Wave, 66-58.
 
The Express trailed 32-29 at the half, but rallied to outscore the Wave by 11 in the second half and take home an eight-point victory, snapping a six-game losing streak.
 
Gian Batista scored a team-high 16 points, his thirteenth-straight game scoring double figures, and added seven rebounds and four assists.
 
Taffari Jarvis joined Batista in double-figures, tallying 13 points and 11 rebounds for his second-straight double-double, while Jessy Jimenez added 11 points and five rebounds.
 
Monroe shot 36.4 percent from the floor and 40.0 percent, 6-for-15, from beyond the arc.
 
The Express are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 9 when they head to Bayside, N.Y. to take on Queensborough Community College at 7:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
