LOCH SHELDRAKE, N.Y., December 5, 2017 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to Sullivan County Community College, 67-55 on Tuesday at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
Tatyana Forde led the way for Monroe with a season-high 21 points, shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc, but the Express couldn't come back from a six-point halftime deficit.
The Express trailed by just one at the end of the first quarter, and six at halftime, but the Generals doubled up the Express, 20-10 in the third quarter to take a 57-41 lead.
Monroe battled back and outscored Sullivan County by four in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough, as the Express fell, 67-55, dropping their fourth-straight and falling below .500 for the first time this season.
Briyanna Graham and
Frances Morales joined Forde in double-digits with 12 and 10 points apiece, while Graham added 12 assists to tally her first career double-double.
Muray Nelson again led the Express on the glass with nine rebounds to go along with her six points.
Looking to get back on track, the Express head to Garden City, N.Y. to take on the Nassau Community College Lions on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
