POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., November 9, 2017 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team defeated Dutchess Community College, 46-29, on Thursday, to move to 2-0 on the season.
The Express took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking a 22-16 lead into halftime, a 34-26 lead into the fourth quarter before pulling away with a 17-point victory.
Briyanna Graham led the way for the Express with 15 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds, and through two games is averaging 21.0 PPG.
Tatyana Forde and
Dawn Franklin led the Express on the boards, each totaling eight rebounds apiece.
After two games on the road to start their season, the Express will look to stay unbeaten as they open their home schedule against Queensborough Community College on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
