POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., October 7, 2017 – The Monroe Express men's soccer team topped Dutchess Community College, 6-2, on Sunday to pick up their fifth-straight win and move to 5-3 on the season.
 
After Alex Gautier gave the Falcons the early lead with his 11^th minute goal, the Express scored six straight, two in the first half and four in the second half, to take a 6-1 lead.
 
Michael Portillo's goal in the 23^rd minute tied the game at one before Mamadou Diombera gave the Express a 2-1 lead heading into halftime with a goal in the 36^th minute.
 
Keybi Garcia extend the lead to 4-1 with goals in the 59^th and 66^th before Diombera made it 5-1 with his second goal of the game in the 75^th minute.
 
Erick Leon's 82^nd minute goal made it 6-1, before a late goal from Nassau's George Pogyo cut the lead to 6-2.
 
The Express will go for their sixth-straight win when they take on Nassau Community College (8-5), Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6:00 PM EST in Garden City, New York.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
