GARDEN CITY, N.Y., October 10, 2017 – Behind a late goal from
Mamadou Diombera, the Monroe Express men's soccer team won its sixth-straight match against Nassau Community College, 2-1, to improve to 6-3 on the season.
Keybi Garcia scored an unassisted goal to give the Express an early 1-0 lead with 22:28 left in the first half, and Monroe headed into the break up 1-0.
The Express held a 1-0 lead through much of the second half until Nassau tied the game with a goal in the 86
th minute. Just two minutes later though, the Express retook the lead and sealed the victory on Diombera's 88
th minute goal, assisted by
Adam Mouktar.
The Express will look to make it seven-straight wins when they take on Rockland Community College (4-9-1), Thursday at 4:00 PM EST in Suffern, New York.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
