Assistant Coach / Pitching Coach - Baseball
Tyler Cadena was named both assistant coach and pitching coach for the Monroe University - Bronx baseball team in January of 2025. Cadena spent the previous season with the program as the team manager as he was responsible for assisting the coaches in practice and in games, as well as scoring the Express baseball contests with the GameChanger software.

As pitching coach in 2025, Cadena helped Monroe - Bronx win 30 games and earn its second straight appearance in the Region 15 Championship Round. He guided Marcus Rodriguez to earning the NJCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week on March 26. Brylyn Mateo had a strong year on the mound which led to him earning a spot on the All-Region second team. Two Express pitchers, Rodriguez and Myles Pleasants, earned spots on the 2025 Region 15 All-Tournament team.

In 2026, the Express got over the hump and captured the Region 15 Championship, winning all three regional playoff games as the No. 1 seed. Monroe produced a 27-15 overall record (15-3 Region 15) and a national ranking of No. 13 in the NJCAA National Poll. The Blue and Gold earned a berth in the Northeast District Championship Series. He coached Adrian Hernandez who threw two no hitters during the year, was named the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week twice, and landed on the All-Region first team. He played a big role in guiding Yevian Delgado to a pair of Region 15 Athlete of the Month honors, a spot on the All-Region second team, and Region 15 All-Tournament team recognition. He helped Luis Green make the Region 15 All-Tournament team as well.

Prior to coaching and serving his managerial duties, Cadena pitched for the Express baseball team as a student-athlete in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, he helped Monroe capture the Region 15 Championship. In 2023, he struck out 20 batters in 17 appearances.

In his playing career, primarily as a reliever, Cadena earned six saves (the most all-time in program history) and three wins on the mound for the Express. The Corona, N.Y. native also set the program single-season record for saves with four in 2023.

Cadena earned two appearances on the All-Region 15 Academic team.
