#4-Seed Express Women's Basketball to Battle #5-Seed Fulton-Montgomery in NJCAA Quarterfinal on Thursday

BRENTWOOD, Texas – The #4-seed Monroe University – Bronx women's basketball team will battle #5-seed Fulton-Montgomery Community College in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday afternoon. Tipoff at Brownwood Coliseum, in Brownwood, Texas, is set for 3 p.m. EDT/2 p.m. CDT.

The winner will move on to the national semifinals which will occur on Friday. The full NJCAA Championship bracket can be viewed here.

Monroe – Bronx earned an automatic bid into the NJCAA Championship after capturing the Region 15 and Northeast District titles. The Blue and Gold earned a bye into the national quarterfinals. 

The Express are 26-6 overall this year, including an impressive 22-1 record against NJCAA Division III teams. Monroe entered the Region 15 Postseason as the #1-seed on its way to the regional and district titles. The Express were nationally ranked throughout the year, including a ranking of No. 4 in the NJCAA Division III National Poll. This season, Monroe - Bronx has produced a 6-0 record against teams that were nationally ranked at the time and 6-1 against teams currently nationally ranked.

Fulton-Montgomery is 23-3 so far in 2025-26 and captured both the Region 3 and North District championships. The Raiders defeated Onondaga Community College, 73-61, back on March 1 to win the region and district titles, plus earn their spot in the NJCAA Tournament. Fulton-Montgomery already has an NJCAA Tournament win under its belt this year, earning a convincing victory in the first round over #12 Rowan College South Jersey – Gloucester, 76-50, on Wednesday afternoon. Fulton-Montgomery was also nationally ranked all year, the highest mark being No. 8. 

The Express will be led by Region 15 Player of the Year Beverly Williams. She is averaging 18.7 points and 5.1 steals during the season. She has scored 1,076 career points, the most in school history. Her 274 career steals put her at number one on the program's all-time list. Her teammate Salimah Williams has helped the Blue and Gold reach new heights as she generated 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season. The All-Region second team honoree has delivered 269 career assists which are the most in program history. 

For the Raiders, Kieonna Christmas is compiling 17.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. Hailey Monroe is averaging 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.8 helpers, and 3.8 steals per contest.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
