NEW YORK - Monroe University - Bronx men's basketball sophomore
Michael Samuda earned Region 15 Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention accolades. The full announcement by the region was made on Friday morning and can be seen

For the month of December, Samuda averaged 7.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game to lead Monroe to a 6-1 record.
Samuda set the program single-game record with 14 assists in the victory against SUNY Sullivan on December 13. The Bay Shore, N.Y. native also had eight rebounds and five steals in that game.
The second-year point guard is fourth in the country in assists with 78 so far this year. He delivered 10 assists, grabbed eight rebounds, and forced three steals to help Monroe earn a Region 15 win over Kingsborough Community College on December 7. Samuda generated 17 points, four rebounds, three steals, and three assists to lead the Express to a road victory over a solid Paul D. Camp Community College team on December 20.
The Express are 11-4 overall and 8-2 in the region so far this year thanks to Samuda's great passing and rebounding.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
