NEW YORK – The nationally ranked No. 4 Monroe University – Bronx women's basketball team returned to Region 15 action on Tuesday evening and earned the victory over Borough of Manhattan Community College, 121-7, at BMCC Gym.
Monroe advances its record to 9-0 in the region and 18-1 overall. The Express extend their winning streak to 12 games and remain unbeaten against NJCAA Division III teams this season.
Monroe led from wire to wire and shot 67.9% (55-for-81) from the field during the evening. The Express' defense forced 53 turnovers.
Leading the way for the Blue and Gold was
Salimah Williams who scored a game-high 20 points on 10-for-13 shooting from the field, while forcing four steals and delivering just as many assists.
Jaeda Kelly converted all eight of her shot attempts for 16 points, while forcing six steals and dishing out four helpers.
Lea Tavarez scored a career-high 19 points on 9-for-15 shooting (60.0%) from the floor. She compiled a trio of rebounds, assists, and steals.
Beverly Williams added 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting (60.0%). She forced seven steals and delivered three helpers.
Jhency Pabon had a career game with personal highs of 14 points, five steals, and four assists.
Aneyah McLamb notched 10 points, six steals, five assists, and four boards.
Tyra Williams scored a personal-best 12 points, while adding three rebounds and a trio of steals.
Aviah Richards had a near double-double with 10 points and nine caroms, while adding three steals and two assists.
Sade Gibbs compiled four points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.
Diamondnique Stephenson added two points and a pair of boards.
The Express will battle local rival and defending Region 15 Champion Hostos Community College in a regional matchup at The Swamp on Thursday evening. Tipoff will be at 6 p.m.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
