BRONX – The All-Region Division III Baseball team was announced by Region 15 on Friday evening and Monroe University – Bronx is heavily represented.
Pablo Aquino earned a spot on the All-Region 15 first team and was selected to the Region 15 Gold Glove team.
Yan Ortiz Torres garnered All-Region second team and Gold Glove team honors.
Robert Herrera and
Edwin Minaya Jr. were selected to the All-Region first team.
Brylyn Mateo earned a spot on the All-Region second team.
Giovanny Flores and
Christopher Marlin landed on the Region 15 Gold Glove team.
Sael Flete was placed on the Region 15 Sportsmanship team.

Aquino is hitting .406 this year with 23 extra base hits, including five home runs. He has a slugging percentage of .671 and an on-base percentage of .509. He has stolen 41 bases this year. In the field, he has compiled 69 putouts and four assists with a fielding percentage of .924. Aquino has scored 65 runs and driven in 42 of them.
Herrera is compiling a batting average of .482. with three home runs, just as many triples, 14 doubles, 60 runs scored, 49 RBIs, and 31 stolen bases. He has an on-base percentage of .580. and a slugging percentage of .693. He was named the NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week on March 26.
Minaya Jr. has drilled five home runs this year with a batting average of .436, a slugging percentage of .645, and an on-base percentage of .488. Minaya Jr. also drove in 44 runs so far this year and has five home runs. This is Minaya Jr's second straight appearance on the All-Region team.
Ortiz Torres is now a two-time All-Region second team honoree. This year, Ortiz Torres was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week on April 30. He is producing a batting average of .398, a slugging percentage of .656, and an on-base percentage of .512. Ortiz Torres has lined five home runs, scored 52 times, drove in 48 runs, and slapped 14 doubles in 2025. In the field, he's generated 53 putouts and 70 assists during his sophomore year.
On the mound, Mateo is 5-2 and struck out 39 batters this year. He earned a complete-game victory at Borough of Manhattan Community College on March 29 by striking out seven batters and giving up just one earned run in five innings pitched.
Flores has played great defense at third base throughout the year, being involved with 20 putouts and 16 assists while making great diving stops at the hot corner to prevent base hits.
Marlin has been outstanding at first base this year, producing 171 putouts and seven assists, while compiling a fielding percentage of .994.
Flete has been productive for the Express at the plate and on the mound. With the bat, he produced three hits in six at-bats, including a double, while driving in six runs and scoring twice. On the mound, he earned an impressive win on the road over NJCAA Division II Orange County Community College on March 30 by striking out seven batters in five innings pitched.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
