BRONX - The Monroe University – Bronx baseball team will begin the Region 15 Double-Elimination Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Middle Country Park in Selden, N.Y. The second-seeded Express will take on third-seeded Nassau Community College at 3:00 p.m.
The winner of the first-round game will play in the next round on Friday afternoon at Middle Country Park against the winner of #4-seed Bronx Community College and #1-Seed Suffolk County Community College. The non-winners of the opening round will play each other in an elimination game on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Leading the way for Monroe (27-14) this season has been
Robert Herrera who is hitting .485 with three home runs, three triples, and 14 doubles. His OPS is 1.283, while he is compiling a slugging percentage of .705 and an on-base percentage of .578. On the mound,
Brylyn Mateo is 5-1 with three complete games and has struck out 36 batters.
For Nassau (20-14), Michael Jazylo is hitting .429 and has an OPS of 1.156. His slugging percentage is at .683. On the mound, Brian Chin has an earned run average of 3.11 and his record is 3-2. He fanned 55 batters during the regular season.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
