NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 7 Monroe University – Bronx women's basketball team earned a convincing Region 15 win over the defending regional champions, Hostos Community College, by a score of 97-48 at Monroe Athletic Complex on Tuesday evening.

The Caimans (2-5, 2-4 Region 15) kept it close in the opening quarter as they only trailed 19-16 after 10 minutes of play. A pair of free throws from May Morrison less than a minute into the second frame narrowed the Express' benefit to 19-18.
However, Monroe changed the game by scoring 11 unanswered points, concluded by a successful jumper from
Aneyah McLamb, to catapult to a 30-18 hold with 6:53 left in the opening half.
The Blue and Gold dominated the remainder of the quarter, increasing the lead to 28 before taking a 49-22 benefit into the intermission.
Monroe thrived in the second half as well, outscoring Hostos by a 48-26 margin. With 29 seconds left in the game, a 3-point field goal by
Moryliz Marquez gave the Express their largest lead of the evening at 97-48 and that ended up being the final score.
