BRONX – The fifth-seeded Monroe University – Bronx men's soccer team will battle nationally ranked No. 10 and fourth-seeded Nassau Community in the quarterfinal round of the Region 15 Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The action will take place at Mitchel Athletic Complex beginning at 5 p.m.

Monroe went 8-2-2 in regional play this year (8-4-2 overall). Nassau earned a record of 10-2-0 both in the region and overall and will look to defend its Region 15 Championship. The Lions earned a berth in the NJCAA National Semifinals last season.
These two teams met during the regular season at Flowers Park back on October 11. Nassau scored two unanswered goals in the second half to earn the 2-1 win.
Leading the way for the Express this season has been
Brando Tuba with nine goals and an assist.
Jason Chunchi has recorded 22 points (five goals and 12 assists), while
Mamadou Top and
Salim Anas have notched seven goals each. Anas has compiled four assists, while Top chipped in with two helpers.
In goal for Monroe,
Angel Grijalva and
Kimany Arzu have split time. The former is 5-2-1 with two solo shutouts and one shared. The latter is 3-2-1 with one individual shutout and a combined one.
For Nassau, Jeremy Ramos had a successful regular season with 13 goals and a trio of providers in 12 matches played. Mohamed Alsayedi has contributed to the Lions' firepower with 12 goals and three assists in 12 games. Cristhian Ramos Monsalve generated nine goals and three assists in 11 regular season contests.
Bryan Hernandez has been a rock in net for Nassau by going 9-2-0 with five solo shutouts and one shared.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
