No. 10 Express Men's Soccer Set for Region 15 Match Against Bronx CC on Tuesday Evening

BRONX – The nationally ranked No. 10 Monroe University – Bronx men's soccer team looks to continue its strong start to the season as they will host Bronx Community College in a Region 15 matchup at Flowers Park. The action is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Thanks to their strong start to the season at 3-0 (overall and Region 15), including a 3-1 regional win on the road over then-nationally ranked No. 6 Ulster Community College back on September 14, the Express earned a national ranking at No. 10 in the latest NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Poll. Leading the way for Monroe - Bronx this season has been freshman midfielder Juan Ramirez found the back of the net four times and provided an assist so far this year. First-year defender Jonathan Lima has added four goals of his own so far in 2024. Both Ramirez and Lima have each netted a match-winning tally this season. In net, rookie Raymond Romero has only given up one goal in two matches and earned a 2-0 record to start his collegiate goalkeeping career, including a six-save shutout victory in the season opener against Borough of Manhattan Community College on September 5.
 
Bronx CC opened the 2024 season with a 4-1 victory over LaGuardia Community College, at Ohio Field back on August 31, before dropping the next three Region 15 contests. Freshman Junior Tchankwe leads the Broncos' attack with two goals and an assist so far this season. Sophomore Ashraf Abubakar has found the back of the net twice during the early stage of the year. Second-year goalkeeper Edwin Martinez earned the win in the season opener against LaGuardia and stopped seven shots for Bronx CC this season. 

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
