SCRANTON, Pa. – The Monroe College – Bronx baseball team fell in its non-region game to NJCAA Division II Lackawanna College, 29-0, at the Scranton High School Baseball Field on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons (4-10) scored five runs in the opening inning and never looked back.
Leading the way for the Express (0-9) during the afternoon was freshman second baseman
Jeanpaul Alicea Albertorio who reached base with a single.
For Lackawanna, first-year pitcher Nicholas Biasi earned the shutout win on the mound by striking out 15 batters and giving up just one hit in six innings pitched.
Monroe – Bronx will play two games at nationally ranked No. 15 Middlesex College on Sunday. First pitch at Middlesex College Stadium is set for 11:00 a.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
