BAYSIDE, N.Y. – The Monroe College – Bronx women's basketball team concluded the regular the season on a strong note by earning a victory in Region 15 play over Queesnborough Community College, 80-45, at RFK Gymnasium on Thursday evening. The Express clinch the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Region 15 Tournament and will host their regional quarterfinal contest on Tuesday evening. Time, location, and opponent will be announced on Friday afternoon.
Monroe – Bronx (15-16, 10-5 Region 15) fell behind 4-2 early in the game, but then went on an 11-1 run to take a commanding lead that lasted for the rest of the evening. Freshman guard
Daysiah Smith began the game-changing blitz with a layup, and then a triple by classmate
Tymere Moorer put her team in front for good. Freshman guard
Davian Myers concluded the run with a fast-break layup that inflated the Express' cushion to 13-5 with 1:50 remaining in the opening quarter. In the closing seconds of the first period, Smith executed a layup off the fast break to put Monroe up by double digits, 18-7, with nine seconds left. The Tigers (6-14, 5-12 Region 15) never pulled to within single digits for the remainder of the contest as Monroe went on to earn the convincing regional victory.
Leading the way for the Express was Smith who produced a game-high 26 points, snatched seven rebounds, dished out six assists, and forced just as many steals. Freshman guard
Angeleny Cobos produced 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and brought down three boards. Moorer netted 13 points, delivered four assists, and collected a trio of steals. First-year guard
Tiffany Newsome added nine points, five rebounds, a duo of assists, and a pair of steals. Freshman guard
Jah Gunter had a solid game with four points, six caroms, and five helpers. Sophomore forward
Xing Stewart-Greer provided four points and five rebounds, while freshman guard
Leanna Morales grasped seven boards of her own.
For Queensborough, sophomore forward Nayla Walters produced a double-double with 10 points and a game-best 22 rebounds to go along with two assists and just as many blocked shots. Freshman guard Sheila Da Silva scored a team-high 17 points, forced six steals, and brought down five boards.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
