CRANFORD, N.J. – The Monroe College – Bronx men's volleyball team dropped three competitive sets to Union College, at Union College Gymnasium, on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-17, 25-21, and 25-17.
Leading the way for the Express (0-6) was freshman middle blocker
Jeremy Rivera-Aponte who slammed home eight kills, which tied a match-high, anchored the defense with six digs, scored two service aces, and provided a pair of block assists. Rookie opposite hitter
Marvin Culmer nailed four kills and added three block assists. First-year outside hitter
Juan Arias led all players with 10 digs, delivered three kills, and tallied an ace.
Also chipping in for Monroe – Bronx was freshman setter
Wiltor Cubas who helped with 12 assists, three digs, and a service ace, while classmate
Harold Romero notched two digs and an assist. Freshman opposite hitter
Elvis Ndubuisi registered a kill plus a block assist and rookie middle blocker
Domingo Brito supplied a block assist of his own.
For the Owls (4-4), sophomore outside hitter Alexander Boulin produced eight kills, five service aces, and a dig.
Monroe - Bronx will battle Middlesex College, at Middlesex College Gymnasium, on Wednesday evening. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
