SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Monroe College – Bronx women's basketball team will face a huge test on Sunday when they take on nationally ranked No. 6 Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y. Tipoff at Allyn Hall Gymnasium is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Express (10-9) will look to snap their two-game winless streak. They will be led by sophomore guard
Daysiah Smith who is averaging 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 4.4 steals per game this season. Rookie guard
Angeleny Cobos is producing 8.8 points per outing.
The Lazers (16-1) have won 10 games in a row, with each victory by double digits (outside of the forfeit win on January 17). They have balanced scoring this year, led by freshman guard Cianna Papineau who is generating 10.3 points per game. She is also averaging 3.9 assists and 3.6 steals per outing. First-year forward Precious Gabriel is netting 7.6 points, snatching 6.3 rebounds, and picking up 2.0 steals per contest.
Last season, Monroe – Bronx lost a close game to Onondaga, 75-72, on November 5, 2022, at Allyn Hall Gymnasium. It was the first all-time head-to-head matchup between the two programs.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
