BRONX – The Monroe College – Bronx basketball teams will compete in a key Region 15 doubleheader against Kingsborough Community College on Thursday evening. The contests will take place at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium with the women's matchup beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m.

On the women's side, the Express (10-8, 7-2 Region 15) sit in third place in the Region 15 standings, right behind second-place Kingsborough (12-3, 10-2 Region 15). The full Region 15 women's basketball standings can be seen

Leading the way for the Express this season has been freshman guard
Daysiah Smith who is averaging 21.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.2 steals per game this season.
For the Wave, freshman guard Tionna Davis is scoring 20.4 points, grabbing 4.2 rebounds, and generating 2.8 assists and steals per contest this year.
Monroe – Bronx is 7-1 all-time against Kingsborough.
For the men, the Express are currently in fifth place in the Region 15 standings (11-9, 5-4 Region 15). The Wave hold the eighth spot (7-10, 6-8 Region 15). For both the women and the men, the teams that finish in the top eight in the regional standings at the end of the regular season will earn a berth in the Region 15 Championships. Sophomore forward
Abubakar Kromah has been propelling the Express this season with 19.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
For Kingsborough, freshman guard Phillip Harris is scoring 14.5 points and grabbing 8.1 rebound per game so far in 2023-24.
Monroe – Bronx is undefeated all-time against Kingsborough at 10-0.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
