BRONX - The Monroe College - Bronx men's soccer team will take on Rockland Community College, in a Region 15 matchup, on Thursday, September 28. The contest will take place at Rockland CC Soccer Field, in Suffern, N.Y., beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The Express (2-3-1, 2-3-1 Region 15) have been unbeaten in three of the last four matches and are coming off an impressive 3-0 victory over Region 15 rival Queensborough Community College, at Flowers Park Soccer Field, this past Saturday afternoon. 

Leading the way for the Express has been sophomore defender Lorenz Utz, who has scored four goals and provided two assists in six matches played this season. Classmate James Gallagher has generated two goals and just as many helpers so far in 2023. In net, rookie goalkeeper Krit Raj Maharjan is averaging 7.4 saves per match and earned a shutout victory over Orange County Community College, back on September 12. Sophomore goalkeeper Vitor de Oliveira stopped all three shots he faced to earn the shutout win in his collegiate debut over the Tigers, this past Saturday.

After dropping its first three matches of the season, Rockland (4-3-0, 4-2-0 Region 15) has won its last four contests. The latest was a 9-0 triumph over LaGuardia Community College, at Rockland CC Soccer Field, on Thursday, September 21. 

Freshman Harmon Braddock is leading the Hawks this season with five goals and a pair of assists. Sophomore Joseph Portanova has buried four goals and added three helpers so far in 2023. In net, sophomore goalkeeper Ignacio Escamilla has earned three straight shutout victories and has not surrendered a goal since September 14 at Bronx Community College . 

Monroe - Bronx is 4-2 all-time against Rockland.  

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
