BRONX - The Monroe College Bronx - men's soccer team will face a big test on Thursday, September 21, as the Express will host nationally ranked No. 6 Suffolk County Community College. The Region 15 matchup at Flowers Park Soccer Field will begin at 4:00 p.m. The Sharks are the defending Region 15 champions and won an NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament match last season.

The Express (1-2-1, 1-2-1 Region 15) are coming off a 2-2 tie to Bronx Community College, at Ohio Field, this past Tuesday.
Leading the way for Monroe this season has been sophomore captain
Lorenz Utz who has tallied four goals in as many matches played this season. Second-year defender
James Gallagher has generated a goal and a pair of assists. In net, rookie goalkeeper
Krit Raj Maharjan has earned a shutout victory so far in his first season and is averaging 6.5 saves per contest.
Suffolk County (8-1, 3-1 Region 15) is having a strong start to the season and is coming off a convincing road victory over Dutchess Community College, 5-0, back on Saturday, September 16. Sophomore midfielder Kaanturk Akgul is tied for fourth in the country with 11 goals scored so far this year. He has also provided three assists. In net, second-year goalie Rocco Dispinseri is 4-0 this year and has stopped 27 shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Ascencio is 4-1, while stopping 37 shots.
Monroe - Bronx is 5-4 all-time against Suffolk County, but the Sharks have won the last two head-to-head matchups.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
