Farrell’s Four RBI Day Leads Express to Victory over BCC

The Express travel for a Region 15 doubleheader against Bronx Community College on Saturday, April 22nd

BRONX, NY – Monroe Express baseball returned home Friday afternoon and hosted Region 15 opponent, Bronx Community College, for a nine-inning matchup that finished with the Express claiming an 11-7 victory. Monroe improves to 18-16 on the season, with a 7-5 conference record.

Ernie Farrell wasted no opportunities at the plate in today's game, driving in four on three hits to lead Monroe past the Broncos. Farrell drove in runs on a double in the first and a home run in the third.

The Express fired up the offense in the first inning, scoring one run when Farrell doubled. A batter later, Farrell and Randy Diaz scored after a single to center field hit by Camilo Rodriguez. Ian Faulkner and Rodriguez added runs to the board after an Hecxiel Perez double hit to left field, increasing the advantage 5-0.

Keeping the Broncos at bay, Monroe scored their eleventh run of the game in the third, after Farrell homered on a 1-0 count, running in two. The Broncos would get their offense going, scoring four runs in the sixth inning. With one more chance to get in front, Bronx scored their seventh run in the ninth, but Tyler Cadena's clutch pitching led the Express to victory.

Samuel Tejada got the win for the Express. The ace lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three and walking one.  Didier Hernandez, Frank Ballar and Cadena all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.  Cadena recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Monroe.

Alex Lora took the loss for Bronx. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out five.

The Express socked two home runs on the day. Diaz had a four bagger in the second inning and Farrell put one out in the third inning.
Monroe tallied 11 hits on the day, as Farrell led with three hits in three at bats.

Bronx saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Leonardo Francisco and Raul Chevalier both collected two hits for the Broncos.
