LINCROFT, N.J. – The Monroe College – Bronx men's basketball team continued its winning ways on Saturday, November 11 as the Express earned a come-from-behind victory over Community College of Rhode Island, 87-73. The game took place at Robert J. Collins Arena during the first day of the Brookdale Community College Classic.
The Express remain undefeated at 3-0, while Rhode Island drops to 1-2.
Monroe – Bronx trailed 43-38 at the half, but then outscored the Knights by a score of 49-30 during the final 20 minutes of play to earn the impressive victory.
"The second half is when we got to establish our identity and put together some key stops," Monroe – Bronx Express Head Coach
Chris Neely said. "Our sophomores made adjustments to secure the win."
Leading the way for the Express was second-year forward
Abubakar Kromah who led all players with 35 points, on 14-for-16 shooting, while grabbing six rebounds, dishing out five assists, and forcing just as many steals. Sophomore guard
Jovan Young had a solid performance with 14 points and two assists.

Jaream Eason provided a spark off the bench for the Express with 12 points and six boards. Sophomore guard
Vashaun Wallace and classmate
Anthony Bannister each netted nine points, with the former distributing two assists and collecting four steals and the latter gathering three rebounds.
Freshman guard
Steven McGriff scored six points and added three rebounds to help Monroe – Bronx. Sophomore guard
Jevonté Valerie provided five rebounds and a pair of free throws. Second-year guard
Derrick Simpson chipped in by snatching a carom.
Monroe – Bronx will be put to the test on Sunday, November 12 when they take on the defending National Champions and the No. 1 ranked team in the country Brookdale Community College, during the second day of the Brookdale Community College Classic. Tipoff at Robert J. Collins Arena is set for 4:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
