Express Men's Soccer Continues Region 15 Playoff Push With Match at No. 8 Ulster County on Sunday, October 8

BRONX - The Monroe College - Bronx men's soccer team will face another big test with a matchup at nationally ranked No. 8 Ulster County Community College, at Rondout Valley Soccer Field, on Sunday, October 8. The Region 15 matchup will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Sunday's match at Ulster County marks the second straight contest in which the Express are taking on a top 10 team in the country.

There wil be no live stats or live video but fans can check out MonroeExpress.com, as well as our social media channels, for updates and results. 

The Express (3-4-1, 3-4-1 Region 15) are in eighth place in the Region 15 standings, just three points behind Borough of Manhattan Community College for the sixth and final playoff spot. The Express have played in one less game than the Panthers. The full regional standings can be seen here. 

Monroe is coming off a strong effort at nationally ranked No. 4 Nassau Community College, out on Long Island, this past Thursday afternoon, but fell short by a score of 3-1.

Leading the way for Monroe - Bronx this season has been sophomore defender Lorenz Utz, who has scored six goals and added three assists so far this season. He tallied a goal against the nationally ranked Lions, this past Thursday, that snapped Nassau's four-match shutout streak. Classmate James Gallagher has netted three goals and provided four helpers for the Express so far this season. 

Ulster County (8-1-2, 8-1-2 Region 15) has been unbeaten in its last nine matches and is coming off a 1-0 victory on the road over Rockland Community College, this past Thursday.

Freshman forward Ashaasea Sankofa has tallied 13 goals and five assists for the Senators. Rookie midfielder Imari Harris has produced 12 goals and five assists.

Monroe - Bronx is 2-0-1 all-time against Ulster. 

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
