PATERSON, NJ – Monroe Express women's basketball captured their third straight victory Tuesday evening, after an 87-68 victory over the Passaic County County Community College Panthers in Paterson, NJ. The Express improves to 16-7, and the Panthers are now 12-9 on the season.
Janay Legagneur led all scorers with a season-high 25 points, along with eight rebounds, three blocks and one assist.
Sierra Jones followed with 16 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Aleah James and
Maria Negron both posted 10 points, with James adding three assists, two rebounds and one steal, while Negron had 12 rebounds. Ariella Johson pitched in seven points and four assists, as
Alyssa Grant contributed six points and a season-high nine rebounds, one assist and one block.
The Express continue their stay on the road Thursday (Feb. 2) as they take on Region 15 foe, LaGuardia Community College Redhawks inside LaGuardia CC Sports Gymnasium in Long Island City, NY at 5 PM.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
