BROOKLYN, NY – For the first time in program history, Monroe Express men's basketball took to the Barclays Center Saturday morning to host the Bronx Community College Broncos, hitting the century mark and reaching their seventh consecutive victory after the 105-49 final. After the historical contest, the Express improve to 16-8 (9-3 Region 15).
In the victory,
Siddiq McNair led the Express with 13 points, three assists and one steal.
Jasigha Barnes followed with 12 points (4-5 3PT FG), two assists and one steal.
Andrew Molina poured in 11 points, two assists, two rebounds and one steal.
Abubakar Kromah added 10 points, nine rebounds, five steals, three assists and one block.
The Express will look for their eighth straight win, when they return to home court Sunday (Jan. 29) to take on the #9 Northampton Community College Spartans inside Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, NY at 3 PM.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
