Monroe-Bronx Women’s Volleyball Win Third Tri-Match of the Season

The Express return to the court Tuesday (Sept. 27) for a conference matchup against Fashion Institute of Technology

SUFFERN, NY – Monroe College-Bronx women's volleyball took to the court Sunday for another tri-match victory against the Rockland Community College Hawks and the Westchester Community College Vikings. This is the Express' third tri-match win of the season. 

Monroe 3, RCC 1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-14, 25-10)
The Express began their afternoon, defeating the Hawks in four sets. Besides the second set, Monroe's margin of victory was one of the largest of their season. In the end, Lisanel Rodriguez continued her stellar play with 21 points, 20 kills, and 12 digs with only two errors. Luisanni Rodriguez followed with 31 assists, 12 points, 10 digs, six service aces, four kills and two solo blocks. Lesly Almonte and Jaylinne Mulgrave West both tallied eight points and seven kills. 

In the end, Monroe totaled 53 points, 38 kills on 56 attempts, 58 digs, 34 assists, 10 service aces and five solo blocks.

Monroe 3, QCC 0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-10)
Monroe ended their tri-match in three sets against the Vikings. Lisanel Rodriguez led the Express again with 16 points, 15 kills on 15 swings, 11 digs and one solo block. Luisanni Rodriguez registered 22 assists, while Emily Diaz added 10 digs to the box score. Yorlennis Nunez contributed six digs, 4 points and one solo block.

In total, the Express totaled 37 points, 25 kills on 56 attempts, 44 digs, 22 assists, eight solo blocks and four service aces.

The Express return home Tuesday (Sept. 27) for a Region XV game against Fashion Institute of Technology at 7:00 PM inside the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, NY.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
