Box Score Seldon, N.Y., March 26, 2022 – Salomon Lluveres (Providence, Rhode Island) stepped into the batter's box with the Express trailing 8-7 with his mind already made up, uncorking a two-run walk-off double off of the first pitch, capping off a 9-8 come from behind victory over Suffolk County Community College on Saturday morning. The win improves the Express's record to 5-9 while the Sharks drop to 5-6-1.
Suffolk County Community College opened the scoring in the top first on a Peter Montana RBI Single, and another on an RBI double by Daniel Deutsch to make it 2-0. Nick LaMonico's RBI single in the bottom of the third extended Suffolk's lead to 3-0 before the Express rolled off four consecutive runs to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jose Arrieta (New Bedford, MA) ripped a line drive two-run single to left field to tie it up at three, and then Joseph Rosario (New York, N.Y.) unloaded an RBI Triple to right field to put the Express in front for the first time 4-3.
The Sharks scored three consecutive runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings before Rosario got an RBI on a groundout, and Juan Jorge (Bronx, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch to tie it at 6 in the bottom of the sixth. Montana's homer gave the Sharks back the lead 7-6, then Rosario's sacrifice fly RBI tied it at seven before LoMonaco's RBI single made it 8-7 going into the bottom of the ninth.
Ernie Farrell (Corona, New York) lined out on the first pitch in the bottom of the ninth before Quinn Kilroy (Arlington,MA) delivered a pinch-hit single past the shortstop to get aboard the tying run. Randy Diaz (Bronx, New York) reached on an error representing the game-winning run. After an Alex Rodriguez (North Syracuse, N.Y) pop-out put runners on the corner, Lluveres delivered the knockout blow in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off line-drive single to lead the Express to 9-8 victory.
The Express recorded their third straight game with 10 or more hits posting 12 on the morning as Arrieta and Jorge posted multi-hit games, with Arrieta going 4-for-4 with a team-high four hits. Monroe-Bronx did not commit an error in the field, with Rosario leading the way with a team-high eight putouts.
Alex Rodriguez Bello (Bronx, N.Y.) picked up the victory for the Express on the hill lasting five innings, allowing ten hits and three runs while striking out three. Andrew Wilcenski took the loss for Suffolk County Community College. Denis Garcia (Port Chester, New York) started the game for the Express, going four innings, allowing five runs on five hits, and striking out two.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
