Bronx, N.Y., February 23, 2021 – Nyeira Spady (New Rochelle, New York) became the third athlete in the Monroe Express Athletic Program's history to earn Region XV Player of the Year accolades. Spady joins a new program-record four student-athletes from the women's basketball team selected to the 2021 Region XV Division III Women's Basketball All-Region Team. Kryshana Levy (Bronx, New York) was also named to the All-Region XV Sportsmanship team, and the honor is the first for all five student-athletes

Spady joins teammate Tariah Bryant (Brooklyn, New York) as an All-Region XV First Team selection, while classmates Taina Maldonado (New York, New York) and Maria Negron (Bronx, New York) grabbed All-Region XV Second Team recognition. Spady, an All-Region XV First Team selection, became the first player in the women's basketball program's four-year history to be named Region XV Player of the Year.

Spady was dynamite in her first season in an Express uniform leading the Express in scoring with 322 points (12.4 PPG) and rebounding 234 rebounds (9 RPG) while turning away a team-high 34 blocks. The New Rochelle, New York native, has registered a team-high 17 double-figure games and three 20 point performances, including a career-high 27 points against ASA College on February 3, 2022. Her 322 total points and 34 blocks are second-most in a single season, while she also received the women's basketball program's first-ever NJCAA Player of the Week honor on February 9, 2022. Spady has also put up 12 double-digit rebound games and seven double-doubles, while her 234 total rebounds are the third-most in a single season. She also is tops on the team in field goals made (130) and field goals attempted (323) and free-throws made (53), and free-throws attempted (79) while snagging 84 steals which is also second-most in a single season.

Bryant was the Express's floor general pacing the backcourt on defense with a team-high 88 steals, which is second-most in a single season, while her team-best 84 assists were also third-most in a single season. The Brooklyn, New York native, distributed a career-high 10 dimes to go along with 14 points against interborough rival Bronx Community College on February 1, 2022. Bryant also is currently second in scoring (245 points) and scoring average (9.8) while grasping 134 rebounds (5.4 RPG) which is also third on the team. This season, she has 15 double figures games with a career-high 17 points in an upset over #6 Hostos Community College on November 16, 2021.

Maldonado and Negron have been solid sixth women off the bench this season and have seen their roles grow throughout the season as the team has struggled with injuries and several lineup changes. Maldonado is the top trigger lady for the Express, leading the squad with a team-high 24 three-pointers made. She had really found her scoring touch in the second half of the season, with five of her seven double-figure games in 2022. However, she dropped a career-high 16 points against ASA College on February 3, 2022.

Negron has provided Spady with a solid one-two punch on the glass bringing in 192 rebounds (7.7 RPG) which is second on the team. She also leads the Express with three 20 rebounds games this season and smashed a single-game record of 23 by Julia Trowers when she corralled 24 rebounds in a victory over Nassau Community College on February 8, 2022.

Levy was called up from the J.V. women's basketball team and has provided some major help off the bench scoring a career-high seven points against Bronx Community College on February 1, 2022, and grabbing three steals against them on February 12, 2022.
