New Rochelle, NY, February 13, 2021 – The Monroe Express JV men's basketball team lost to visiting Sullivan Community College on Sunday morning, 90-72, at the Monroe Athletic Complex. The Express drop to 5-5 while the Generals improve to 7-7.
Three Players finished in double-figures for the Express, with sophomore
Audley Falconer (Bronx, New York) leading the way with a team-high 20 points. Freshman
Chamarri Baskerville (Queens, New York) added 19 points and dished out a team-best tied four assists with
Jordan Wilson (Peekskill, New York) to go along with a game-best four steals. Freshman
Darius Rivers (Bronx, New York) added 11 points, and classmate
Jean Carlos Triunfel (Bronx, New York) brought down a game-high 13 rebounds.
After both teams were competitive over the first three and a half of the first half before Sullivan C.C. built a 17-point lead, 36-19 at 7:02 on a Trevon Gray layup. Monroe-Bronx responded with a furious 14-2 run capped off by a
Falconer layup to cut the deficit down to five, 38-33 at 2:12 before the Generals scored five of the final points to lead at halftime 43-37.
Sullivan Community College took control of the game over four minutes into the second half bringing the lead back to double-digits 57-46 on a Myles Debrecourt and got it to its largest mark at 22, 83-61 on a Daniel Sayvion layup at 4:10 en route to a 90-72 victory.
For Sullivan Community College, Zech Barnes spearheaded the offensive effort for Sullivan Community College posting a game-high 30 points and five assists. Trevon Gray dropped 29 points and joined Barnes with a team-high tied three steals while Sayvion Daniel scored 14 points and Myles DeBrecourt hauled down a team-best 12 boards.
