Jones' 21 Lifts Express Past Nassau in Region 15 Road Bout

The Express open at home Tuesday (Dec. 6) for a conference battle against Hostos Community College

GARDEN CITY, NY –  Monroe Express women's basketball wrapped up their brief Region 15 road-trip Thursday evening with a 65-49 victory over the Nassau Community College Lions inside NCC Main Gym in Garden City, NY. The Express' record rises to 5-3 (5-0 Region 15) with the win, and the Lions fall to 4-2 (4-1 Region 15).

In the victory, Sierra Jones led all scorers with 21 points and two steals. Aleah James and Janay Legagneur showed as formidable comrades, both contributing 12 points. James also added six assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Legagneur pitched in a career-high 17 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.

Head coach Jeremy Thompson added the following remarks in regards to his team's vital road victory:
"That's two road games in the Region that are part of an important 5 game stretch that we are in. I was impressed that we assisted on more than 65% of our made field goals, it shows you how unselfish this team can be and how talented they are. Nassau is a well coached team and played hard, we need to come back over the weekend and continue to prepare and get back, as we open up at home on Tuesday. Watching our progress has been great, I am very proud of this group."

The Express open up at home Tuesday (Dec. 6) against the Hostos Community College Caimans, as they look to avenge their 2022 Region 15 Tournament loss, inside the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle. NY at 6 PM.
