ROCKVILLE, MD – Monroe Express men's basketball embarked to the south as they took on the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks producing a 69-58 win. With the victory, the Express move to 3-0 on the young season. 

Leading the way for the Express was Quake' Smith with 18 points, 11 rebounds with 5 offensive boards, two blocks and one steal. Jasigha Barnes added 16 points, three assists and one steal. Abubakar Kromah pitched in a massive 17 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds, and four steals. 

Monroe-Bronx had the edge in field goal percentage (48.1 to 35.6), rebounds (42-32) and assists (18-12). NOVA held the advantage in steals (13-6) and blocks (5-3). 

The Express finish their tournament Sunday (Nov. 13) as they take on the Montgomery College-Rockville Raptors. 

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
