NEW YORK, NY – Monroe College-Bronx women's volleyball continue to keep their foot on the gas with a three-set win (25-20, 25-18, 25-16) against the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers inside BMCC Gymnasium.

The first set was a game of runs as the Express jumped out with an early six point lead, headlined by a Luisanni Rodriguez service ace to put the score at 8-2. BMCC would begin a run of their own, shrinking the lead to two. After more Monroe scoring, the Panthers would get within four points, but a BMCC attack error sealed the set for the Express.

The Express would stay on the gas, creating separation in the two following periods to settle the 3-0 final. Lisanel Rodriguez led all scorers with 20 points, 16 kills on 25 swings, an attacking percentage of .600, 11 digs and two service aces. Lesly Almonte followed with 10.5 points, eight kills, eight digs and two service aces. Soumayatou Yaogo and Jaylinne West both registered six points, along with five kills and three kills respectively.

For the Panthers, Josanne Lewis led her team with 14 points, 13 kills, seven digs and one service ace. Any Criollo, Jamielee Adomo and Emmanella Aruel all pitched in two kills.
Monroe-Bronx led the game in points (55.5), digs (51), kills (38), assists (33), service aces (11), blocks (6), and attacking percentage (.423).

Monroe College-Bronx women's volleyball continue their brief road schedule with a Region 15 matchup Saturday (Oct. 8) against the Orange County Community College Colts.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
