MIDDLETOWN, NY – Monroe-Bronx women's volleyball have raised their win streak to 10 games with a three set victory (25-14, 25-10, 25-18) over the Orange County Community College Colts in Middletown, NY. The Express have achieved their first double-digit win streak in team history, eclipsing their previous record of eight games in the 2019 season.
The Express led with a balanced defensive attack, with three players registering 12 or more digs.
Lisanel Rodriguez led all scorers with 12 points, 10 kills on 18 swings, 12 digs and two service aces.
Luisanni Rodriguez followed shortly behind with nine kills, a game-high 17 digs, 16 assists and seven service aces.
Valery Nunez, fresh off a defensive player of the week nod, added 14 digs, while
Laura Pinales pitched in eight.
For the Colts, Emily Henderson led her team with seven points, five kills, five digs, two blocks and one assist.
In the end, the Express led the contest with 40 points, 25 kills on 79 attempts, 69 digs, 18 assists, 13 service aces on a .177 hitting percentage. Both teams registered two blocks.
The Express return to Monroe Athletic Complex Tuesday (Oct. 11) for their final home game of the season against the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers at 7:00 PM.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
