New Rochelle, N.Y., November 12, 2021 – Magan Jackson (Bronx, New York) had an impressive home debut with a double-double and team-high with 14 points and 14 rebounds as the Monroe Express JV women's basketball team beat Iona Club a 61-46 on Friday night's home opener at the Monroe Athletic Complex. The victory gets the Express JV women's basketball team back to .500 at 1-1 on the season. The win brings the Express JV women's basketball team back to .500 at 1-1 on the season.
Freshman Zahra Abiodun (West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and Shakinna Jennings (Brooklyn, New York ) were the other Express players scoring in double-figures, with Jackson contributing 11 and Abiodun and Jennings 10 points, respectively. Sophia Gonzalez (Brooklyn, New York) hauled down a team-high tied 14 rebounds while Kassandra Marks (Harlem, New York) led the team in assists with four and Jennings in blocks with two.
After trailing 31-25 at halftime, the Express dominated the final two quarters holding Iona to single digits in both of them, eventually taking the lead 35-33 on a Kryshana Levy (Bronx, N.Y.) layup at the 5:25 mark of the third quarter and extending the lead to as large as 15 at the 1:43 mark of the fourth quarter en route to a 61-46 victory.
Iona Club had two players in double figures led by Rosa Sandiford, who posted a double-double with game-high 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Toni Kinard drained 14 points on the night. Sandiford turned away a game-best three shots, and Mary Fay corralled 11 rebounds.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports.
