Monroe Express Men’s Basketball Tops Kingsborough on Sophomore Night

New Rochelle, N.Y., February 13, 2020 - Four players in double-figures led the Monroe College Express men's basketball program to 76-61 NJCAA Region XV victory over Kingsborough Community College on Thursday night
 
The Express improve to 11-16 overall and 7-9 in conference play with the victory.
 
In pregame ceremonies, the Monroe Express athletic department and men's basketball program honored its five graduating sophomores – Kevin Benjamin, Jameek Brown, Brayan Lara, Orbis De Los Santos, and Kevin Austion.
 
Freshman Isiah Ryan led the team with a game-high 19 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a game high five steals. Freshman Kevon Wiggins posted 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sophomore Kevin Benjamin finished with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
 
Freshman Adonis Robinson recorded 17 points and four rebounds while classmate Jaiden Simon totaled nine points and four rebounds.
 
The Express outshot Kingsborough 47.8 percent to 33.9 percent in the game while the Waves held a 41-31 advantage on the boards.
 
The Express men's basketball program resume action on Saturday, Feb. 15 on the road against Dutchess Community College at 3 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
