Valhalla, N.Y., January 7, 2020 – The Monroe Express JV women's basketball team dropped their first contest of the New Year, falling to Westchester Community College on the road, 107-46.
With the loss, the Express drop to 1-8 on the season.
Freshman
Alimah Goodwin led the Express with her first double-double of the season, totaling a season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out a team-high five assists. Freshman
Tiffani Turpin scored 19 points in 40 minutes of action. Freshman
Valerie Vargas had six points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
The Express JV women's basketball program return home on Sunday, Jan. 12 against Putnam Science Academy at 1:00 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
