PATERSON, N.J., February 7, 2019 – The Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to Passaic County Community College, 96-50, in a non-conference matchup on Thursday. With the loss, the Express fall to 9-16 on the season, while the Panthers move to 16-3.
Down by 12 at the end of the first quarter, Passaic County outscored the Express, 29-16, in the second and 28-11 in the third to pull away, finishing off the 96-50 victory in the fourth quarter.
Tatyna Forde led the Express for the second-consecutive game, scoring 12 points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Julie Trowers added nine points, while
Maryam Camara tallied a team-high seven rebounds and seven blocks.
The Express next travel to Selden, N.Y. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 to take on Suffolk County Community College at 6 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
