Gian Batista and
Christopher Davis recorded double-doubles, but the Monroe Express men's basketball team fell to the Passaic County Community College Panthers, 91-87 on Thursday.
Though the Express led 49-35 at the half, Passaic County stormed back, outscoring Monroe, 56-38 in the second half to pick up the 91-87 victory.
Batista led the Express with 26 points, adding 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, while Davis totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth of the year.
Loquan Deloatch also scored in double-figures for the Express with 13 points, adding a team-high five assists.
The Express will look to bounce back on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they take on ASA College JV at 4 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
