NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., January 29, 2019 – Monroe Express women's basketball fell to the 7th-ranked Nassau Community College Lions, 80-45, on Tuesday in a Region XV clash at the Monroe Athletic Complex.

After a back-and-forth start, Nassau finished the first quarter on a 16-5 five run to take a 19-9 lead.

The Express closed the gap to just seven on Maryam Camara's free throw with 5:02 left in the second quarter, but an 11-2 run by the Lions extending Nassau's lead to 16, 35-19, at the half.

However, the Lions outscored the Express, 10-2, over the first two minutes of the third quarter to stretch their lead to 24, before pulling away with an 18-5 run to finish the quarter, heading to the fourth with a 63-34 lead.

And though the Express held the Lions to just 25.9 percent shooting in the fourth, the deficit proved to be too much to overcome and Nassau picked up the 80-45 victory.
