LOCH SHELDRAKE, N.Y., January 17, 2019 – The Monroe Express men's basketball team dropped their third-straight, falling to the Sullivan County Community College Generals, 102-69, on Thursday at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
The Generals took a 15-point, 52-37, halftime lead against the Express, and pulled away in the second half to pick up the 102-69 victory.
With the loss, Monroe drops to 8-9 on the season, while the Generals move to 10-5.
Gian Batista led the way for the Express with 17 points, while
Luis Aviles and Ghetty Allui each added 11.
Christopher Davis joined the trio in double-figures, scoring 10 points, while both Davis and Batista each recorded six rebounds.
The Express will look to snap their three-game losing streak when they host 4th-ranked Borough of Manhattan Community College on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
